Our Story
Family owned since 1954
Guntren Trucking has a proud history dating back to 1954, when Edwin Guntren founded the company in Remsen, Iowa.
Edwin operated the business until October 1, 1966, when he sold the company and transitioned into a career in law enforcement, eventually serving as Sheriff of Plymouth County. In 1978, he returned to trucking full-time, continuing his passion for the transportation industry.
Over the years, the business became a family legacy, with Edwin’s sons, Tom and Rodger Guntren, carrying on the tradition. Today, Tom Guntren continues to lead the company, building on the foundation established by his father and brother.
Now operating out of Sioux City, Iowa, Guntren Trucking, LLC specializes in general freight and refrigerated food transportation.

The fleet has grown and the freight has changed, but the way we work hasn’t: haul it right, keep our word, and take care of the people behind the wheel.
We’ve stayed mid-sized on purpose. With approximately 30 automatic trucks and 100 refrigerated trailers, we’re big enough to keep you moving and small enough that you’re never just a truck number.
Our dispatch team knows our drivers by name, is available 24/7, and works with each driver to find a pace and home time that fits their life.
